THE MODERN GOALIE DVD
IN-goalies introduces a new interactive educational package for goalies.
Ilari Näckel, from Jyväskylä, Finland, has gathered all
his practical experience in teaching goalies for coaching goalies to play
today’s hockey. Ilari has years of experience as a goalie coach
for the JYP Hockey Team and holds a Masters Degree in Sports Science.The Modern Goalie introduces important technical and tactical game relevant aspects of playing goalie from the goalie’s perspective. The package comprises of DVD and a booklet. The DVD footage material contains material from the Finnish Elite League and separately taped ideal performances in practice. The booklet serves as a theoretical background for the DVD. The Modern Goalie has been constructed with the adult goalie perspective. Today’s young goalies are increasingly using elite goalies as their models by copying their skills. Therefore, the package is also beneficial for C-B and A- junior level goalies, as well as youth level goalies, and coaches working with them. Feedback received from those who have used the teachings of the tape has been very positive. The Modern Goalie evokes thoughts in everyone interested in improving goalie play. There isn’t one right way of achieving the best results. Every goalie coach has his or her own philosophy of how to coach one to become a great goalie and what does a great goalie play look like.
